Organic wool is a fantastic fibre for many reasons. It has temperature regulating properties, it breathes well and will keep you warm. Organic wool products have long lifespans, meaning they can be used longer than other textile fibre products. It’s washed less frequently, saving both water and energy. But let's not forget about some of wool’s greatest properties - it’s recyclable and biodegradable.
All textiles shed microfibres when they’re worn and washed. Synthetic fibres, like polyester and nylon, shed microplastic fibres that will stay in our environment forever. Wool garments, on the other hand, also shed microfibers, but these fibres are biodegradable and therefore do not contribute to the spreading of microplastics.
